Doe Bay to Deer Harbor
|
West Around
Orcas
We
woke and I carefully mapped out the coarse, we weighed anchor and set sail. I had my
precious cargo back to the ferry dock, put a call in to my folks and sailed off. I headed
west towards Jones island where I was going to anchor in the south bay. But I heard the
weather forecast call for 20 mile per hour winds from the south southwest, so I decided to
head back to Orcas where I am anchored in Deer Harbor. I finished up some rope work and
wiring as I bobbed behind the protection of these rock faces. I disassembled my
temporary
wiring to the autopilot and
installed
an outdoor plug wired directly to my deep cycle
battery. Now I can remove the unit by simply unplugging it.

Tomorrow I will sail north around the west side of Orcas Island to Sucia Island. My last
stop in the United States. I will meet friends who are kayaking there for three days.
